A snowplow operator was injured after being struck by a vehicle during a multi-vehicle collision in Southgate, police say.

Grey Bruce OPP were called to Grey Road 14 around 1:15 p.m. Thursday following a crash involving a snowplow and four other vehicles. Investigators determined the plow driver had exited the vehicle after an initial collision and was then hit by another car. The driver suffered non-life-threatening injuries, while four other people involved were treated for minor injuries.

The roadway remains closed between Southgate Road 3 and Highway 89 as police continue their investigation. OPP say whiteout conditions played a role in the incident.

Police are urging motorists to drive with caution by reducing speed, leaving more space between vehicles, and being prepared for sudden changes in road and weather conditions. Drivers are also encouraged to avoid travel unless necessary until conditions improve.
