A 52-year-old South River resident has been charged following a single-vehicle crash involving a fire truck on July 28 in Laurier Township. The collision occurred around 6:30 p.m. on Goreville Road. Ontario Provincial Police reported that the driver was charged with careless driving and operating a commercial vehicle without the required airbrake endorsement.
In addition to the charges, the driver received a three-day administrative suspension under Ontario’s “warn range” rules, which apply to blood alcohol levels between 0.05 and 0.08. While no injuries were reported, the fire truck has been removed from the scene. Police have not released further details or confirmed whether alcohol contributed to the crash.
