Windsor fire crews responded to a structure fire Monday morning on the 2900 block of Tecumseh Road East, near Cadillac Street. Multiple emergency vehicles were on scene, and Tecumseh Road East was fully closed between Chandler and Drouillard due to the incident.
Firefighters applied water to the interior and conducted primary searches in the main affected building and two adjacent exposures. Ventilation efforts began to clear moderate smoke from the structure, and natural gas service was shut off to the main fire area. Crews maintained an offensive approach throughout the operation.
The fire has since been brought under control. The blaze caused an estimated $350,000 in damage.
Update – The fire is being investigated by arson investigators. Windsor police are searching for a suspect, described to be a large-built, slightly tall middle-aged man. He was last seen wearing dark clothing, including a jacket, pants, and running shoes.
