A 20-year-old Sudbury man caused a serious crash after running a stop sign on October 30 around 9:40 p.m. at Cathcart and Huron Streets. According the Sault Ste. Marie police, the man was prohibited from driving, on probation, and under the influence of drugs

The collision sent two people to the hospital, one with critical injuries. The driver and passengers fled on foot, but officers quickly located and arrested them. Investigators determined the vehicle was stolen and confirmed the driver’s suspension and prohibition status.

Police say the man refused a drug recognition evaluation and now faces several charges, including impaired and dangerous driving causing bodily harm, vehicle theft, multiple counts of driving while prohibited, probation violations, failure to remain at the scene, and driving while suspended. He remains in custody awaiting a bail hearing.
