Toronto police are seeking witnesses after a 15-year-old girl was seriously injured in a hit-and-run while riding an e-bike in North York.
The incident occurred around 11 p.m. Wednesday at Bayview Avenue and Heathcote Avenue, just south of Highway 401. According to police, the girl was heading north on Bayview when a grey SUV turning left from Heathcote onto southbound Bayview struck her. The driver fled the scene.
The teenager, who was not wearing a helmet, sustained a serious leg injury and was taken to hospital by paramedics.
Investigators believe the SUV involved likely has front-end damage. As of now, neither the driver nor the vehicle has been found. The intersection was closed for several hours overnight for investigation. Police are asking anyone with information or dashcam footage from the area to come forward.
