Ottawa firefighters responded to three separate fires between Friday night and early Saturday morning, with incidents occurring at a low-rise apartment, a mixed-use commercial building, and a residential townhome.

The first fire broke out around 10:20 p.m. Friday at an apartment building on Beech Street. Flames were reported from a second-floor unit. Fire crews quickly contained the blaze by 10:36 p.m., preventing it from spreading. One man in his 30s was taken to hospital in stable condition, while two others were treated on scene. Several dogs were also given oxygen by firefighters.

Shortly after, at 10:48 p.m., a fire was reported at a commercial building at Osgoode Street and Henderson Avenue, which houses a restaurant, barbershop, laundromat, and second-floor apartments. That fire was contained to the first floor and brought under control by 11:05 p.m. No injuries were reported.

The third fire occurred just before 4:30 a.m. Saturday at a townhome on Briarfield Crescent. Flames had fully engulfed the rear of the residence. Fire crews took about 90 minutes to extinguish the blaze. Residents were evacuated and sheltered on an OC Transpo bus, and victim services were called in to support those affected. No injuries were reported.

All three fires are currently under investigation.
