Three men from Brampton are facing a series of charges after an alleged break-in and a collision with a police vehicle in Barrie on Sunday morning.

The incident unfolded just before 4 a.m. when police responded to a reported break-in at a business located at Ardagh Road and Mapleton Avenue. Upon arrival, officers saw three suspects leaving the premises and entering a car. As they attempted to flee the scene, the suspects’ vehicle struck a police cruiser and narrowly avoided colliding with two other responding units.

The suspects continued to evade capture, driving in the wrong direction on a highway service road. However, they lost control of the vehicle and crashed into a ditch on the southbound off-ramp toward Highway 400. The three men attempted to flee on foot, but were soon apprehended by police along the roadside.

The suspects, aged 37, 28, and 25 are now facing multiple charges, including theft over $5,000, break-and-enter, possession of break-in tools, and dangerous driving. They are also charged with fleeing from police and several violations related to previous release and probation orders.

Inside the vehicle, police found a quantity of Canadian currency and goods believed to have been stolen from the business. One of the suspects, a 25-year-old, was treated for minor injuries at a local hospital. All three men are currently in custody and will appear for a bail hearing.
