Three construction workers were pulled from beneath a collapsed porch at a Stoney Creek job site Tuesday morning, with one man suffering a serious leg injury.
Emergency crews were called to a home under construction on Green Mountain Road shortly before 9 a.m. Police said the porch gave way, trapping the adult workers underneath.
Responders from the Hamilton Police Service, Hamilton Fire Department and Hamilton Paramedic Service worked together to free the men. All three were taken to hospital; two sustained injuries described as non-life-threatening.
The cause of the collapse has not yet been determined. Green Mountain Road was temporarily shut down between Fifth Road East and Sixth Road East during the emergency response but has since reopened.
Ontario’s Ministry of Labour is investigating the incident.
