Three people were taken to hospital after a serious townhouse fire in Mississauga on Friday evening.
Fire crews responded shortly after 6 p.m. to a home on Fifth Line, near Erin Mills Parkway and Dundas Street West, where they encountered intense flames and thick smoke throughout the residence.
Before firefighters arrived, neighbours attempted multiple rescues but were unable to reach the occupants. The homeowner, a man in his 50s, was found outside suffering from smoke inhalation after trying to enter the burning home to save others.
Firefighters later located two individuals inside—a man in his 40s and a woman in her 80s—and pulled them from the house. Both were initially unresponsive, but crews were able to revive them at the scene before transporting all three victims to hospital in serious condition. Authorities later confirmed they are now stable.
The fire was brought under control and contained to the townhouse. Investigators have not yet determined the cause or origin.
