Firefighters responded to an apartment blaze on the 3900 block of Wyandotte Street East in Windsor Sunday morning.

When crews arrived, heavy smoke was coming from a third-floor balcony. The fire was quickly contained to a single unit, and ventilation was set up in the stairwell to clear smoke.

Paramedics and police were also on scene to assist. Three residents sustained minor injuries and were treated at the location.

Windsor Fire estimates the damage at under $5,000 and believes the fire was caused by improperly discarded smoking materials.
