A 36-year-old North York man faces several charges after reportedly attempting to evade a traffic stop in Dufferin County on Friday afternoon. OPP officers patrolling Highway 10 in Melancthon Township around 2:30 p.m. spotted a speeding vehicle and attempted a stop.

The driver allegedly passed another car on the shoulder, lost control, and crashed onto a property’s lawn, where the vehicle caught fire. He was arrested at the scene and taken to hospital as a precaution.

Charges include fleeing from police, dangerous operation, stunt driving, and multiple traffic offences. His driver’s licence has been suspended, the vehicle impounded, and he is set to appear in Orangeville court.
