A 49-year-old tow truck operator has died following a workplace incident at an auto business in Brampton Friday evening.
Peel Regional Police say emergency crews were called to a shop on Advance Boulevard, near Steeles Avenue East and Tomken Road, shortly after 6:30 p.m.
Investigators say the man was in the process of unloading a vehicle from his tow truck when the incident occurred. During that process, the victim became trapped beneath the vehicle and was run over.
Paramedics and first responders attempted lifesaving measures at the scene, but the man was pronounced dead. His identity has not yet been released.
Police say the Ministry of Labour has taken over the workplace investigation, while Peel police continue a parallel review to determine whether any criminal element was involved. Investigators said there is currently no indication of foul play.
