All westbound lanes of Highway 401 in Whitby have reopened following a collision involving a transport truck that caused a diesel spill.

Police say the crash happened near Brock Street when the truck’s fuel tank ruptured, prompting a cleanup response due to possible environmental concerns. No injuries were reported.

The incident led to significant congestion in the area, with traffic heavily backed up during the response. By 4:00 p.m., provincial police confirmed that all lanes had been fully reopened.
