Train service through West Perth has been temporarily suspended after a vehicle struck the Goderich-Exeter Railway bridge on Thursday, located on Perth Road 145, south of Perth Line 34.
Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) have confirmed that train traffic will be halted until the necessary bridge repairs are completed. In addition, Perth Road 145 will remain closed between Perth Line 34 and Perth Line 32 for at least a week.
A 47-year-old man from Stratford has been charged with careless driving in connection with the incident. OPP have not provided an estimate for when the bridge will be reopened or when train services will resume.
