A transport truck caught fire Sunday morning on Highway 7/8 westbound in Kitchener near the Homer Watson Boulevard exit. Video footage shows the truck pulled over on the shoulder shortly before 8:30 a.m., with flames coming from one of its rear wheels and thick black smoke rising into the air.

Fire crews responded and blocked traffic while dealing with the situation, quickly putting out the fire. Kitchener Fire later confirmed the blaze was caused by overheated brakes that ignited the trailer’s tires. No injuries have been reported, and all affected lanes have since reopened.
