Windsor Fire crews are managing two separate incidents only a few blocks apart.
The first incident happened on the 1300 block of Victoria Avenue, where firefighters encountered heavy smoke on arrival. The fire was located in the basement of a single-family home and began spreading quickly, prompting crews to shift to a defensive approach.
By around 7 p.m., all firefighters had exited the structure safely. About 32 firefighters are working at the scene alongside police and EMS. Visibility in the basement and first floor was extremely limited, and teams are conducting primary searches throughout the home. Damages caused by the fire are estimated to be around $750,000.
A second call, near Ellis Street East and Dufferin Place, was linked to careless cooking. Crews are ventilating light smoke in that area.
Drivers are being asked to steer clear of both locations.
