A devastating crash on Highway 400 in Vaughan early Sunday morning left two people dead and a third critically injured.
The collision occurred shortly before 3:45 a.m. near Major Mackenzie Drive and involved a transport truck and a rideshare-operated sedan. Police say the sedan, carrying three occupants, hit the end of a guardrail while exiting the highway, leading to a secondary impact with the truck.
Two passengers — men in their 30s from Bradford — died at the scene. The driver, a 50-year-old from Toronto, was rushed to hospital with critical injuries. The transport truck driver was not hurt.
Northbound lanes were closed for several hours during the investigation and reopened around noon.
