Two drivers are facing careless driving charges following separate crashes on Highway 417 in Ottawa. Ontario Provincial Police responded to two collisions in the westbound lanes Tuesday morning—one near Bronson Avenue and another near Terry Fox Drive. In one of the crashes, a driver was taken to the hospital with minor injuries.
A social media photo showed a tractor-trailer that had collided with a concrete barrier. Both drivers are charged with careless driving, which carries a $490 fine and three demerit points. OPP Const. Michael Fathi urged drivers to slow down and give space to first responders and tow truck operators, especially with ongoing construction.
