Two people were injured after two transport trucks collided on Highway 401 near the Orford Road exit in Chatham-Kent early Monday morning.
Emergency crews from Elgin County OPP, Chatham-Kent Fire and Emergency Medical Services responded to the crash in the westbound lanes around 6:15 a.m. Both drivers were taken to a local hospital with minor injuries.
Authorities said the Ministry of the Environment attended the scene due to a significant diesel spill.
Following the investigation, a 52-year-old driver from Ingersoll was charged with careless driving under the Highway Traffic Act. The highway remained closed for several hours while investigators examined the scene and crews cleaned up the roadway.
Police are asking anyone with information about the incident to contact the OPP.
