Two elderly women sustained minor injuries after falling tree branches brought down utility wires in Toronto’s North Riverdale on Saturday afternoon.
Toronto police were called to the area of Danforth and Broadview avenues at approximately 1:30 p.m. following reports of downed wires. Investigators say tree branches fell onto the utility lines, causing them to come down and strike an outdoor patio area where the women were present.
Both women suffered non-life-threatening injuries. Emergency crews, including police, firefighters, and paramedics, responded to the scene.
Eastbound Danforth Avenue has been closed from Broadview Avenue while authorities manage the incident and assess the area.
