Two people were taken to hospital after a collision involving a sedan and a tractor trailer in Elgin County early Friday afternoon, with one victim suffering life-threatening injuries.
Elgin County OPP responded to the crash around 12:57 p.m. at the intersection of Quaker Road and Southdale Line, along with Central Elgin Fire and Elgin EMS. The passenger in the sedan was rushed to hospital in critical condition, while the driver sustained injuries that are not life-threatening.
The tractor-trailer driver was not injured. The OPP’s West Region Traffic Incident Management and Enforcement Team is supporting the investigation, and nearby roads are expected to remain closed for several hours.
