Two Oshawa men are facing multiple charges after attempting to evade officers during a RIDE check, according to Durham Regional Police. The incident occurred around 11 p.m. on Jan. 12 near Stevenson Road and Gibb Street, when officers directed a driver to pull over and the vehicle instead sped away.
Police allege the suspect vehicle collided with another car shortly afterward and continued fleeing. During efforts to stop it, the vehicle intentionally hit two police cruisers before the occupants abandoned it and ran away on foot.
The suspects, identified as 29-year-old Je’von Hamblett-Oxley and 32-year-old Lincoln Richards, were later arrested. Both are charged with offences including failing to stop for police and possession of a Schedule I substance. Hamblett-Oxley remains in custody awaiting a bail hearing, while Richards was released on an undertaking.
