A man and two Toronto police officers were injured following a collision early Thursday morning while officers were responding to a reported vehicle break-in in Rexdale.
Police were called to the area of Islington Avenue and Elmhurst Drive around 2:30 a.m. after reports of someone breaking into a parked vehicle.
Officers arriving at the scene saw two vehicles leaving the area. One of the vehicles collided with a police cruiser, with investigators alleging it was displaying fraudulent licence plates.
Two officers suffered minor injuries. The driver of the other vehicle was arrested and taken to hospital with serious but non-life-threatening injuries.
Police briefly pursued a second vehicle that fled the area. That vehicle remains outstanding.
