A garage fire in North York Wednesday afternoon marked the fourth Toronto fire involving lithium-ion batteries in just over 24 hours, according to Toronto Fire Services.
Firefighters were called to a home on Anthony Road, east of Wilson Avenue and Keele Street, around 4 p.m. after reports of heavy smoke and flames.
Crews arrived to find the garage fully engulfed, with the fire extending into the main residence. Two people were assessed for possible smoke inhalation but did not require hospital treatment.
The fire was later brought under control. Fire officials confirmed lithium-ion batteries were involved, although the cause and circumstances leading to the blaze remain under investigation.
