Two people were killed in a collision involving a transport truck and a moving van on Highway 11, about 20 kilometres south of Cochrane, early Sunday morning.
Ontario Provincial Police said emergency crews, including Cochrane District EMS and the Cochrane Fire Department, responded to the crash at around 2:45 a.m. The driver of the transport truck was taken to hospital with non-life-threatening injuries.
The James Bay OPP, supported by the traffic incident management and enforcement team, continues to investigate the cause of the collision.
Highway 11 was closed between Highway 579 in Cochrane and the Highway 11/101 junction near Matheson for most of Sunday while investigators examined the scene. The roadway reopened shortly after 1:35 a.m. on Monday.
