A crash involving a pickup truck and several parked vehicles near a school in Thunder Bay has led to charges of dangerous driving and drug trafficking. The incident occurred around 5:15 p.m. on Thursday near the intersection of River Street and Court Street North.
An off-duty Thunder Bay police officer, who was heading to work, witnessed the collision, in which the pickup truck hit multiple unoccupied vehicles in the area. Upon arrival, officers spoke to the truck’s occupants and launched an investigation. During this, they discovered illicit drugs in the vehicle, including suspected cocaine and a sum of cash.
As a result, the 37-year-old female driver has been charged with dangerous driving and several violations under the Highway Traffic Act. A 41-year-old man in the vehicle was also charged with drug trafficking and possession.
Both individuals have been released from custody and are due to appear in court at a later date.
