Two people are facing numerous criminal charges after London police recovered firearms and drugs from a stolen SUV following a failed attempt to flee officers on Sunday.
Police said the stolen vehicle, originally reported outside the city, was linked to several incidents before officers located it around 7:30 p.m. on Dundas Street East near Wellington Street. Investigators allege the driver rammed both an unmarked police vehicle and a marked cruiser while trying to escape a parking lot. Officers then boxed in the SUV, and both occupants were taken into custody without further incident.
A search of the vehicle allegedly uncovered three sawed-off shotguns, ammunition and suspected illegal drugs. The two accused, whose identities have not been released, each face multiple firearm, drug and possession of stolen property charges. One suspect is additionally charged with three counts of breaching a firearms prohibition order, while the other also faces charges including dangerous driving, fleeing police and four counts of violating a firearms prohibition order.
