A deadly house fire in Echo Bay is under investigation by the Ontario Provincial Police.
Emergency crews responded to the fire on Highway 17B at about 3:51 p.m. Friday. Personnel from the Echo Bay and Townships Volunteer Fire Department and Sault Ste. Marie Paramedic Services assisted police at the scene.
When responders entered the residence, they discovered two people dead inside. Authorities have confirmed that no other injuries were reported.
Investigators have not yet determined what caused the blaze. The investigation involves multiple agencies, including the OPP Crime Unit, Forensic Identification Services, the Office of the Fire Marshal, the Office of the Chief Coroner, and the Ontario Forensic Pathology Service.
