The Gardiner Expressway has fully reopened following a multi-vehicle collision and vehicle fire near the Rees Street off-ramp on Friday morning.
Emergency crews responded shortly after 9:30 a.m. to reports of a crash involving several vehicles, followed by a vehicle catching fire. Firefighters quickly extinguished the blaze after arriving at the scene, and the driver of the burning vehicle was able to escape safely.
Authorities believe between two and four vehicles were involved in the collision. Paramedics transported two people to hospital with serious but non-life-threatening injuries.
A section of the expressway remained closed for several hours while emergency crews responded and the scene was cleared. The cause of the crash has not yet been determined, and the investigation is ongoing.
