Two people were taken to hospital for smoke inhalation following a residential fire in the basement of a home on Elm Street West in Greater Sudbury on Thursday afternoon.
Greater Sudbury Fire Services responded to the property around 1:40 p.m., with five fire trucks sent to the scene. The blaze was contained and extinguished within a short time.
The two occupants suffered smoke inhalation, but their injuries were not considered life-threatening.
Elm Street was temporarily closed near Ethelbert Street while crews worked at the scene. The area was cleared shortly before 4:30 p.m.
The cause of the fire remains under investigation and is not believed to be suspicious.
