A 78-year-old North York woman has died following a three-vehicle collision on Highway 401 in Mississauga Saturday evening.
The crash occurred at approximately 8:15 p.m. in the eastbound collector lanes near Mississauga Road. According to Ontario Provincial Police, the woman, who was a passenger in one of the vehicles involved, was taken to a trauma centre with serious injuries and later succumbed to them.
The driver of the same vehicle was also hospitalized with minor injuries.
Investigators are working to determine what caused the crash. The eastbound collector lanes remained closed for nearly eight hours before reopening around 4 a.m. Sunday.
