Two people sustained life-threatening injuries in a serious single-vehicle crash on Highway 400 overnight, prompting a temporary closure of the southbound lanes in the Potters Landing area.

Emergency crews were dispatched after receiving reports of the collision just late Wednesday night. The crash occurred near Muskoka Road 38 and Go Home Lake Road.

Paramedics treated two critically injured occupants at the scene before transporting both to a local hospital. One of the patients was later airlifted to a trauma centre in Toronto for advanced medical care.

The southbound lanes of Highway 400 remained closed for several hours while emergency responders worked at the scene and investigators examined the crash. The roadway reopened shortly after 5 a.m. Thursday.
