Emergency crews responded to two separate fires at a large encampment in Kitchener on Thursday.

The first blaze was reported shortly after 9:30 a.m. at 100 Victoria Street North. The city said four trucks from the Kitchener Fire Department attended a tent fire that produced heavy flames and thick black smoke. Two individuals sustained minor injuries, and paramedics were alerted. The cause has not yet been determined.

A second fire was reported at 11:33 a.m., also at the encampment. This incident involved a small enclosed structure and was quickly brought under control. No one was inside at the time, and no injuries were reported. Officials say the cause remains under investigation.
