Police were called to a two-vehicle crash in Elgin County Monday morning. The collision occurred around 7:30 a.m. on Lyons Line in Springfield, forcing the roadway to close in both directions between Imperial Road and Newell Road for roughly six hours.
According to Ontario Provincial Police, a 59-year-old driver from Brownsville who was operating a pickup truck and a 21-year-old London resident driving a sedan were both taken to a local hospital. Their injuries were initially believed to be life-threatening, but have since been downgraded to non-life-threatening.
Investigators have not yet determined the cause of the crash, and it remains unclear whether any charges will be filed.
