Two people were hospitalized with minor injuries after a single-vehicle crash early Wednesday morning near Elmira.
Waterloo Regional Police responded around 4:10 a.m. to reports of a vehicle that struck a hydro pole on New Jerusalem Road between Sawmill Road and Scotch Line Road.
Both the driver and passenger were taken to a local hospital, and the roadway is expected to stay closed for several hours while crews repair the damaged hydro infrastructure.
Police are asking motorists to avoid the area and use alternate routes. The cause of the crash remains under investigation.
