Ontario Provincial Police with the Nottawasaga Detachment have charged one person with impaired driving following a single-vehicle crash in the Town of New Tecumseth.
Police say officers responded to the collision at about 2:00 a.m. on December 14, 2025, on 14th Line in New Tecumseth. A vehicle had left the roadway and overturned in a steep ditch. With assistance from emergency services, three occupants were helped out of the vehicle.
Two passengers suffered significant injuries and were taken to hospital for treatment before later being discharged. Police say the driver was also transported to a local hospital as a precaution and was later released with minor injuries.
During the investigation, officers determined the driver’s ability to operate the vehicle was impaired by alcohol. The driver was arrested at the scene.
As a result, Thomas Green, 23, of New Tecumseth, has been charged with operation causing bodily harm and operation while impaired with a blood alcohol concentration over the legal limit.
Green is scheduled to appear in Ontario Court of Justice in Bradford on January 15, 2026. His driver’s licence has been suspended for 90 days, and the vehicle was impounded for seven days.
OPP is reminding motorists that impaired driving remains a leading cause of death on Ontario roads. Anyone who suspects a driver may be impaired is urged to call 9-1-1. Anonymous tips can be provided to Crime Stoppers at 1-800-222-TIPS (8477).
