A cyclist suffered minor injuries after being struck by a vehicle near Ottawa’s Rideau Canal on Saturday afternoon.
Ottawa police say the collision happened around noon near Fifth Avenue, along Queen Elizabeth Driveway. The vehicle also crashed through part of the canal pathway barrier, leaving it hanging near the edge of the canal.
Police say the vehicle was safely brought back onto the roadway and did not enter the water.
Ottawa paramedics say the cyclist, a woman in her 30s, was clipped by the vehicle. The driver, a man in his 70s, was also assessed at the scene, and neither required transportation to hospital.
Firefighters assisted in freeing the vehicle, which sustained visible damage along with a section of the canal barrier.
Police are continuing to investigate the circumstances surrounding the collision.
