Brantford police are seeking the public’s assistance to locate two individuals who fled after a vehicle ran a red light and crashed into a home on Brant Avenue early Sunday morning.

The incident began around 2:15 a.m. when officers attempted a traffic stop at Brant Avenue and Dalhousie Street. Police reported the vehicle was moving well under the speed limit, prompting officers to check on the driver’s sobriety. During the stop, the vehicle suddenly sped away and proceeded through a red light. Officers chose not to pursue due to safety concerns.

Shortly afterward, the vehicle collided with a residence on Brant Avenue, causing minor damage to the home, as well as to a utility box and a street sign.

When officers arrived, several occupants had already fled the scene. One man found in the driver’s seat was arrested, but police later determined he had not been driving. A 19-year-old man from Mississauga has since been charged with obstructing a peace officer.

A police canine unit was deployed, leading to the arrest of one additional suspect nearby. The search remains ongoing for the remaining two individuals involved.
