Two families have been displaced after a townhouse fire destroyed their homes in London’s south end Sunday night. The London Fire Department says crews were called to a two-unit townhouse at 575 Wilkins St. around 10:40 p.m. and arrived within minutes to find the residents safely outside. London police and EMS also attended, and no injuries were reported among civilians or firefighters.

Fire officials believe one unit was home to a family of six, while at least two people lived in the neighboring unit. Police and the Red Cross helped arrange temporary accommodations. A cat was rescued from the fire, revived, and safely returned to its owner. The cause of the blaze remains undetermined, and damage is estimated at about $600,000.
