Two women died Thursday night following a two-vehicle crash on Highway 11/17 near Thunder Bay. Ontario Provincial Police say the collision occurred around 9 p.m. on the stretch of highway between Highway 130 and Highway 588 and involved two passenger vehicles.
A 23-year-old woman from Poplar Hill and a 28-year-old woman from Eabametoong First Nation were pronounced dead at the scene. Two other people were taken to hospital with minor injuries.
The highway was shut down for several hours between Sistonens Corners and Highway 130 as police and the OPP traffic incident management enforcement team investigated the crash.
