Emergency crews responded to a serious crash Monday evening at the intersection of Hunt Club and Albion roads in Ottawa, where one person was trapped inside a badly damaged vehicle and another was found on the ground.
Firefighters were called around 7:27 p.m. after reports of a collision involving a smoking vehicle. They arrived within minutes and found significant damage to the driver’s side of one car, leaving the driver trapped inside. Crews stabilized the vehicle, set up safety precautions, and used specialized tools to remove the door and free the driver, completing the rescue by 7:50 p.m.
At the same time, paramedics and another firefighter treated a second individual who was located outside the vehicle on the ground.
Paramedics later confirmed that the SUV driver, a woman in her 50s, suffered non-life-threatening injuries and was taken to hospital in stable condition. The other driver, an older woman, also sustained non-life-threatening injuries.
Before leaving the scene shortly after 8 p.m., firefighters cleaned up leaking fluids and disconnected the vehicles’ batteries to prevent further hazards.
