A woman riding as a passenger in an Uber is in critical condition after the vehicle crashed into a utility pole in Etobicoke early Monday morning.
Toronto police said the single-vehicle collision occurred just before 3 a.m. on The Queensway, west of South Kingsway. The rideshare vehicle reportedly left the roadway while travelling westbound before striking the pole.
The rear-seat passenger sustained life-threatening injuries and was transported to hospital, while the driver was not injured. Investigators are examining the cause of the crash, including whether speed was a contributing factor.
The Queensway remains closed between South Kingsway and Park Lawn Road as the investigation continues.
