Waterloo Regional Police, along with paramedics and firefighters, responded to a single-vehicle crash on Tuesday around 6:12 p.m. on Breithaupt Street in Kitchener.

According to police, a 66-year-old man driving a southbound Ford Explorer experienced a medical emergency, causing the vehicle to veer off the road and hit a building. First responders resuscitated him at the scene before transporting him to Waterloo Regional Health Network–Uptown.

The intersection at Breithaupt and Moore streets was closed for several hours during the investigation and cleanup. The building at 51 Breithaupt Street sustained substantial damage from the impact.
