Windsor police are investigating a dog attack that occurred on June 6 in the city’s west end. Around 10 p.m., officers responded to a scene on the 600 block of Joseph Street, where a woman had suffered significant injuries to her hand and arm after being bitten by a pit bull-rottweiler mix.
The woman had attempted to break up a fight between her two dogs inside her home, but the altercation continued outside. When she tried to separate them, one of the dogs bit her hand and wouldn’t release.
Bystanders intervened, and one individual stabbed the dog to stop the attack. Police arrived, used control poles to restrain the dog, and called the Windsor/Essex County Humane Society.
The woman was taken to the hospital with non-life-threatening injuries, while the dog was pronounced dead at the scene. The investigation is ongoing.
