A driver has been charged following a two-vehicle collision on Highway 401 in Kingston Tuesday morning.
The crash occurred around 8:30 a.m. in the westbound lanes near Sydenham Road. Kingston firefighters had to free one person from a vehicle; that individual was taken to hospital with injuries that were not life-threatening. Both vehicles were removed by tow truck.
Police say a 25-year-old Napanee woman is facing a charge related to improper tires. According to the OPP, her vehicle’s tires were severely worn. Officials emphasized that while winter tires aren’t mandatory, Ontario law prohibits driving with tires that don’t meet safety standards, including inadequate tread depth, visible cords, or significant damage.
