Ontario Provincial Police are investigating a fatal collision involving a transport truck and a passenger vehicle that shut down Highway 11–17 near Sistonens Corners on Thursday morning. The crash occurred around 7 a.m., prompting a response from Thunder Bay OPP and emergency medical services.
Police say a 28-year-old woman from Kakabeka Falls was pronounced dead at the scene. Highway 11–17 remains closed between Kakabeka Falls and Sistonens Corners, with traffic being diverted to Highway 102. Authorities expect the closure to last several hours while the investigation continues.
OPP are asking anyone who witnessed the crash or has dashcam footage from the area at the time to contact police.
