A 35-year-old woman has died after being struck by a truck in Etobicoke on Thursday morning, Toronto police say.
Officers were called to the intersection of Islington Avenue and Dixon Road shortly after 9 a.m. Emergency crews attempted life-saving measures, but the woman was pronounced dead at the scene.
Police said a 26-year-old man driving a white Ford truck was travelling south on Islington Avenue and turning right onto Dixon Road when the collision occurred. The woman was crossing Dixon Road from north to south at the time, and investigators believe she was in a crosswalk.
The driver was not injured, remained at the scene and is cooperating with police. Authorities are asking residents, businesses and drivers in the area who may have security or dashcam footage to contact investigators.
