A 68-year-old woman from Greater Sudbury has died following a single-vehicle crash Wednesday morning on Highway 400 in Georgian Bay Township.
Ontario Provincial Police say the collision happened around 11:30 a.m. in the northbound lanes near Crooked Bay Road, when a vehicle left the roadway and struck a rock face. Three women were inside the car, which sustained severe damage.
Emergency crews from ORNGE Air Ambulance, Simcoe County Paramedic Services, and the Georgian Bay Township Fire Department provided life-saving treatment at the scene. The Sudbury woman, a passenger, was pronounced dead, while another woman was taken to hospital with serious injuries.
Police say no other vehicles were involved. The northbound lanes of Highway 400 were closed for several hours during the investigation but have since reopened.
