A woman and her dog are recovering after a violent dog attack in Constance Bay on Monday. Tracey Briscoe was walking her 12-year-old dog, Mic, when a pit bull ran from a nearby property and attacked them. Briscoe was bitten on the arm while trying to protect Mic and later required hospital treatment and surgery for serious injuries. Mic also suffered severe wounds and underwent emergency surgery.
Bystanders intervened to stop the attack, and first responders arrived shortly after. Briscoe described the experience as traumatic and says both she and her friends are dealing with emotional distress following the incident.
The pit bull’s whereabouts remain unknown, and Ottawa Bylaw Services are investigating. Briscoe is calling on the dog’s owner to take responsibility and cover over $2,500 in vet bills. She and her friends are urging local pet owners to be more responsible.
