A woman has been taken into custody after a Peel Regional Police cruiser was struck during a traffic stop on Dixie Road in Mississauga late Tuesday night.

The incident occurred around 11:09 p.m. in the northbound lanes of Dixie Road, just north of Dundas Street East, while officers were conducting a separate vehicle stop. Police say a northbound driver rear-ended the fully marked cruiser that was stopped at the roadside.

Although early reports suggested the driver may have been injured, police later confirmed that no injuries were reported for either the suspect or the officers involved.

The female driver was arrested at the scene and is facing impaired driving-related charges.

Two northbound lanes were initially closed while investigators examined the collision and the damaged cruiser was removed, leading to minor traffic delays. Police have since reopened all lanes and say traffic has returned to normal.
